Welcome!

Hi All,

Looks like I created my first blog and first post ever!  I will not bore you with specifics on how long it took me.  Hopefully everyone is better at blogging than I am!  Instead, I will share a math video that I found online.  The author made the file so that it could be downloaded and shared for educational purposes.  It can be found on the following BLOG.

Every once in a while I show my students a video in class that is open-ended and does not ask a specific question.  Instead, students watch and begin to ask their own questions.  These questions often turn into debates and then into unscripted, inquiry based, educational discussions.  Feel free to ask me any questions that you might have regarding the video.  Enjoy...

  1. Hi Jordan,
Because this is a math video, Im assuming the analagy is that he is intimidated by the harder stairs or that he is taking a step-by-step approach or possibly starting a problem but has trouble completing the problem. Am i close? lol This is cool......

    1. Hi Anthony,

Thanks for checking out my blog. It has more to do with linear equations. It asks the students to define their own variables, model their own example of a solution, find a solution, and validate their conclusion. Most of the time we give students most of those things right off the back. This forces students to create their own questions, and ultimately solve them.

  2. I'm thinking that I'm more of a traditional stairs man--myself! I'll leave the 'math' perspective to the professionals.
